*Please a friendly reminder to all Fire and Rescue Companies on October 1, 2015 Maryland law requires recycling efforts at Special Events, in which affects all Fire Rescue EMS agencies when conducting certain events at their facilities termed as SERP.

The State’s Special Events Recycling Program (SERP) in which Calvert County promotes the recycling effect to help minimize the waste at any special event that includes temporary or periodic use of a public street, publicly owned facility or public park; AND serves food or drink; AND is expected to have 200 or more persons in attendance."
Agencies are responsible for the following:
1)Providing and placing recycling receptacles adjacent to each trash receptacle at the event.
2)Recycling receptacles must be clearly distinguished from trash receptacles by color or signage.
3)Ensuring that the recyclables collected are delivered for recycling.
4)Finally, the Agencies are responsible for all costs and labor to carry out the recycling program at the event.
