Passing of a Dear Friend and Brother

The Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of William “Bill” Keefe. Brother Keefe was a lifetime member of the department who joined Solomons to serve the his community as a public servant in 1961. He held the ranks of Fire Lieutenant, Chief Engineer and was an intricate piece of our company in many ways until his passing today the 12th of September 2016. Bill an instrumental part of the Calvert Marine Museum as he was one of the Captains of the W.B. Tennison. The vessel which serves as a piece of history of Solomons Island and is a huge tourist attraction to the citizens which pass through our area touring the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River. Brother Keefe was also large part of the Solomons Yacht Club and well known mariner in Solomons community. Bill you will be missed as a friend and brother of the Fire/Rescue service. You may be gone but never forgotten. Rest easy brother we will take it from here. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Keefe family.
