| National EMS Week is May 15 - 21, 2011. This years theme is "EMS: Everyday Heroes." While EMS Week is only celebrated for seven days each year, benefits can last all 365 days. The week brings together local communites and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide day-to-day lifesaving service of medicine's "front line." "EMS Week is very important to us at Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS, it gives us the opportunity to bring what we do into the public's eye." There are many activities planned throughout this week. Calvert Memorial Hospital, Emergency Room Department is planning a daily door prize for those EMS providers that deliver patients to them. They will also be providing sweet snacks and beverages throughout the week. The Board of Calvert County Commissioners will be reconizing each Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS Department at their meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:05hrs with a proclamation. (This can be viewed live on Comcast Channel 6.) Wednesday, May 18, 2011 is EMS for Children's Day!! This day is specifically for child safety and injury prevention. |
