Celebrating Success: Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS Career and Technology Academy Fire Cadets Shine at SkillsUSA Maryland State Competition

We are delighted to congratulate two exceptional Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS Volunteer Cadets, Firefighters Cody Davenport and Travis Winston, for their outstanding achievements at the SkillsUSA Maryland State Competition held on Saturday, April 13th. Cody and Travis are currently enrolled in the Fire Sciences Program at the Calvert Career and Technology Academy.

Fire Cadet Cody Davenport, a volunteer at Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, earning the prestigious gold medal in Firefighting. This remarkable accomplishment has secured Cody's advancement to the National SkillsUSA Competition in Atlanta, GA, where he will represent our county on a national stage.

Fire Cadet Travis Winston, a volunteer at Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, exhibited commendable proficiency and earned the Silver Medal in Firefighting, showcasing his commitment to excellence in this critical field.

SkillsUSA plays a crucial role in nurturing and showcasing the talents of aspiring professionals across various vocational disciplines. This competition not only highlights the hard work and dedication of our students but also provides invaluable opportunities for growth and excellence in their chosen career paths. These achievements reflect the exceptional training and mentorship provided by our dedicated instructors and the unwavering support of our community partners.
