This past Tuesday, May 14th, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners proudly presented a proclamation officially designating May 18th-24th as Emergency Medical Services Week in Calvert County!

It was inspiring to see dedicated EMS personnel and community partners from across our county representing their departments and agencies at the meeting. This week recognizes the vital public service and crucial role that EMS professionals play in our health care and public safety systems.

Emergency Medical Technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, firefighters, first responders, educators, administrators, volunteers, and career personnel – you are all heroes who deliver lifesaving care 24/7, 365 days a year. Serving as the vital bridge to medical facilities, your prompt and skilled emergency response profoundly impacts the well-being of those facing sudden illness or injury.

This year's EMS Week theme, "We Care. For Everyone.," beautifully reflects the compassion, professionalism, and steadfast commitment of our EMS providers. Through extensive training, they bravely and dedicatedly respond in often challenging and dangerous situations to serve every member of our community and its visitors.

Let's all take a moment during EMS Week (May 18th-24th) to honor their incredible service and express our sincere gratitude to all the EMS first responders in Calvert County for their steadfast commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our community.
