| The Calvert County Health Department is holding a drive-through Potassium Iodide (KI) tablet distribution event on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Patuxent High School parking lot. The address for the high school is 12485 Southern Connector Boulevard in Lusby.
This distribution is for residents and businesses within the 10-mile emergency planning zone (EPZ) of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant to replace any expired KI tablets. Areas south of Prince Frederick are likely within the EPZ.
Eligible zip codes include: 20629, 20688, 20657, 20615, 20685, 20676, 20610, and parts of 20678.
Important Information:
KI tablets are intended for general community preparedness.
One person, aged 18 or older, can pick up tablets for their household or business.
You may bring expired tablets to the event for collection and disposal.
KI should only be taken when advised by officials in the unlikely event of a radiological incident and is secondary to evacuation and sheltering. It works by protecting the thyroid from damage.
If you are unable to attend, KI is also available on weekdays at the Calvert County Health Department.
