| It is with great sadness, that we join our fellow Southern Maryland Volunteer Fire Rescue EMS Departments, in mourning the loss of longtime Past Fire Chief, Dan Stevens. Chief Stevens dedicated more than fifty years of his life to the fire service. Beginning his journey in 1975 with the Waldorf VFD, he ascended through ranks—Assistant Chief, Fire Chief—and led with unwavering commitment for 22 years, retiring just this past June 2025, though he remained deeply connected to the station he loved. A beloved instructor with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) for over 26 years, Chief Stevens was instrumental in founding its cadet program, shaping future generations of firefighters and EMTs. A fitting tribute to a leader who once said, “Firefighting is in my blood,” Chief Stevens leaves a legacy marked by mentorship, passion, and dedication to service—immeasurable milestones that will continue to guide the fire service for generations to come. Please continue to keep the family and friends of Chief, Dan Stevens, in your thoughts. Rest Easy, friend. |
