Calvert County High School Juniors and Seniors that are in the year long Fire Science and EMS Program through the Career and Technology Center are finishing up the Firefighter I class. They are doing their practical evolutions at the Southern Maryland Regional Training Center for Maryland Fire Rescue Institute. These students have already completed Emergency Medical Technician-Basic and will start Hazardous Materials Operations next week. Each of these students are a volunteer member at one of our local fire department and rescue squads in Calvert County.

This program is an excellent opportunity for students to receive their national certifications as well as take college classes before even getting out of high school. If interested in learning more about the high school program or becoming a volunteer at one of the fire departments and rescue squads in Calvert County, contact Kim Jones, Recruitment and Retention Specialist at jonesks@co.cal.md.us or 410-535-1600 Ext. 2668.
